Louvre Paris France

Wednesday, July 28th, 2010

Visiting the Louvre Paris France is an unforgettable portion of a French vacation. As the second-largest collection of art in the world, the Louvre sees more than 8.5 million visitors each year. The museum was built as a palace for French kings in the 12th-century and first opened to the public in August 1783, with 537 paintings. During Napoleon I’s reign, many pieces of Dutch, Spanish and Austrian works were added to the collection. Another 135 pieces were added during the reign of Louis XVIII and Charles X. Napoleon Bonaparte added another 20,000 pieces to the collection from the 1850s to 1870s. During World War II, museum curators feared Nazi pillaging, so almost every piece of art was moved from location Paris to the French countryside to hide with manors and caretakers until the war was over.

The Louvre Paris France district is a colossal collection of enormous fortress-like buildings. In addition to the palace of the French kings, La Place de la Concorde (Concorde Square) was the former site of the infamous guillotine and many beheadings during the French Revolution. Today, there are no killing machines, but rather, an Obelisk given to France by Egypt from the ruins of Ramses II’s temple. Between the Louvre and Concorde Square is the Jardin des Tuileries (the Tuileries Garden), which is an incredible Italian style garden with fountains, caves, greenhouses and sculptures. Below the garden is Le Musee de L’Orangerie, with Renoirs, Monets, Picassos and Cézannes. Also nearby, visitors can find the Vendome Square, which is the epicenter of fine jewelry on location Paris. Shoppers can also peruse Rivoli Street, the Faubord Saint Honoré Street and haute couture houses in Victories Square. Le Palais Royal (the Royal Palace) is a wonderful piece of architecture surrounded by gardens, columns and arcades. The financial sector is also located in this area of France, with La Bourse du Commerce (the Commodity Exchange) located here. The L’englise Saint Roch Church houses a number of Jesuit art pieces, as well as the bodies of Corneille and Diderot.

Naturally, many tourists would like to stay in the Louvre Paris France district, given its close proximity to a number of excellent attractions. The closest hotel is the simple, two-star Timhotel Le Louvre Paris hotel, which is just 253 meters from this amazing museum. The rooms are plain, but you’ll have access to free wi-fi in your room and cable TV. Prices start at $133/night. The Normandy Hotel is also right on the corner of the Louvre Museum. This three-star building looks rather impressive from the street and offers an equally classy, elegant interior. Starting at $185/night, this is one of the nicer three-star hotels in Paris. Located right next door is the four-star Hotel du Louvre Paris, which looks more like a palace than a hotel. Starting at $277/night, guests will enjoy marble baths, jacuzzi spas, plush bedding, a fitness center and nothing but top-notch amenities. For the richest travelers, the Renaissance Paris Vendome ($411+/night) and Park Hyatt Paris Vendome ($750+/night) feature five-star accommodations in the area.

While staying in Paris, many guests visit the Louvre Paris France, the Arc de Triomphe, the Notre Dame de Paris Cathedral and the Champs Elysées, the Eiffel Tower, the French Riviera and the Opera House. Even though Paris has its charm, it’s very tempting to hop aboard the rail line and travel to other nearby countries. The Eurostar line will take you to Paris Disneyland, Calais, Avignon and Lille in France, the United Kingdom (London, Ashford, Ebbsfleet) and Belgium (Brussels, with a connecting train to Antwerp, Bruges, Charleroi, Oostende, Liege, Namur and Ghent). A round-trip between Paris and London can cost just $100. There are many special deals and discounts on London bus tours and other sightseeing activities too! Travelers can visit www.eurostar.com for more information.

Obtaining Certification through PADI Scuba Diving Lessons

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010

There are different professional diving organizations in the world today, but one of the most respected is PADI, or the Professional Association of Diving Instructors.  PADI scuba diving lessons can be found all over the world, and the PADI association also has links to different shops and resorts where individuals can obtain scuba diving equipment and can enjoy sight seeing underwater at the different locations.  PADI scuba diving lessons are tailored to the needs of the individuals so that those learning to dive for the first time can find lessons as well as those who are advanced and want to obtain a rescue diving license.  The scuba diving lessons cost different amounts depending on the type of lesson.

What to Expect

Before signing up to take a PADI scuba diving training lesson, some individuals may want to test it out to see if scuba diving is the right sport for them.  There are some demonstration diving ‘lessons’ that can be done with a certified instructor in a shallow swimming pool.  This allows the individuals to experience the gear of scuba diving and the experience of breathing under the water for the first time.  Some individuals end up feeling claustrophobic when under the water and panic, so paying for a scuba diving course would not be the best option for them.  The demonstrations are a great way to test the waters before paying for a course.

When taking a PADI scuba diving lesson, there is material that has to be learned through book knowledge and some that has to be obtained by experience in the water.  The book knowledge can be obtained through the online part of the PADI scuba diving lessons, which allows individuals to do it on their own time.  However, before being able to obtain a certification to scuba dive, the individual will have to prove that he has mastered both the book knowledge and the skills necessary to safely scuba dive in open water perhaps on a diving holiday.  This process for basic certification can take an individual anywhere from three days to six weeks, depending on the time the individual has to devote to the process and how quickly they master the skills in the course.  More advanced courses can take a longer time since the divers must have more experience in the water before taking the course, especially for those wanting to obtain the rescue license.  There are also some specialized course that allow individuals experience in wreck diving and night diving, as well as obtaining a Master Scuba diver rating through the PADI scuba diving lessons.

Is Travel Insurance Really Worth It?

Monday, July 26th, 2010

Cheap travel insurance has been offered years ago but isn’t usually the very first topic an agent would bring up.  Agents felt that although it was good to offer but in most cases they were having second thoughts in offering it.  They just wouldn’t like their customer to feel as though something would go wrong or seem as if they are fishing more money from the client.  By mentioning the insurance, they felt it gave the client the idea that something was risky about where they were going, or the airline they were booking with.

After the 9-11 incident, everything changed.  People are being more cautious and anticipate to have cancellation of their flight due to some problems, and they fear anything that is related to terrorism.  So, more Americans began investing in travel insurance and it increased the purchasing of travel insurance by 10%.   Most of those who purchase travel insurance are those who travel by plane.  70% of the people who take cruises do get travel insurance.  It is best to seek out the cheapest annual travel insurance.

While many people choose to not buy travel insurance, many don’t know that they can get travel insurance, coverage for their baggage, and medical evacuation coverage.  There is another type of travel insurance that really is hidden by the airports, and they are hoping that most dont become educated enough to purchase it, but its known as excess valuation.

Excess Valuation holds the airline accountable to replace the value on the luggage you check should they end up being lost or damaged.  The last thing heard about this was that they were demanded to give back for up to $3300 in baggage for any traveler.  This would cover any domestic travel, but the international rate is a little different. The international rate on excess valuation is between $9-$10 per pound, so be sure to check with your airline.

Planning a vacation in Florida ?

Friday, July 23rd, 2010

Are you thinking of taking a vacation in Florida ?  Should you stay in a hotel or a florida home rental ? Are you are looking for all the conveniences of home but with all the services provided by a good standard hotel?

Well it really is conceivable by renting Florida home rentals.   There are plenty homes that you can stay in that will provide everything you are looking for . Next time you are planning a vacation, please take a look at all the wonderful homes that are available to rent.  We spent quite a few years staying in hotels, and then one year we hired a Cheap Florida villa.  We have never stayed in a hotel again. To my family, this is the only way to have a fantastic holiday.  You really do get the best of both worlds.

There are many diffent styles of  florida home rental in many locations in and most the Disney area.  They vary in size from 1 bedroom condo’s (sleeping 2) up to 7 bedroom villas (sleeping up to 16).  Most villas will have a private pool, some will have a spa and/or a games room.  Some also look out over open spaces or golf courses.  It really does depend on what you personally are looking for, but rest assured all will have the creature comforts that a hotel cannot hope to provide, and surprisingly at a very fair cost.
Like my wife and I some years ago, I am sure you will be thinking that these vacation homes  will cost an extortionate amount of money and they are only for the rich.  Not so.  Most rental homes are priced very reasonable and most families will be able to afford them.  If you look closely at the prices, you will find that they are in fact very reasonably priced compare to a good quality hotel.

Most vacation rentals can accommodate a variety of people, not just single families but groups of friends and relatives.  They have king bedded suite, double rooms, twin and single rooms, all just waiting for you to come along and have your dream vacation.
The best part though is really splitting the cost down by person to arrive at what you will find is great value.  Some homes can cost as small as $10 per person per day.  For example, in low season, a four bedroom florida vacation home sleeping up to 10 will cost around $700 per week including pool heating.  That is $100 per day, equaling just under $10 per person.  A good quality hotel room for 4 will cost around $60 per night, equal to $420 per week.  As there are 10 of you, you will need 3 rooms making a total of $1260 – OVER twice the price of a Cheap Florida villa.

We have all  heard of the expression “location ,location, location”.  Well, you will often find that in a hotel, that “location” will mean close to a major road or intersection as this brings in the most income for the hotel. This is fine until it is time to “turn in” at night and then you are kept awake by all the traffic noise from exterior.
One of the best things about Florida homes to rent is that they are nearly always set in peaceful suburbs  (Disney, Sea World, Universal Studios etc), Our own home is located in a “dead end”  with minimal traffic and is hence ideal for families with smaller children.  In many cases they will be in beautifully landscaped, resort hotel style communities that may even have a view or a lake or conservation view.  If you are a family that likes these communal developments, they can range from very quiet and unsophisticated community lounges through to fully furnished lifestyle resorts with large communal swimming pools, man made beaches, fully equipped gyms, spa, cinema, children’s play areas.

Most Florida vacation homes will have a very high level of facilities including private pool, large well-fixed living areas, dining areas, fully equipped kitchen, garage, televisions, dvd player, laundry facilities, cyberspace entree etc. One of the best parts about booking villas is that within a few hours, you feel just like you are a home.  You begin to unwind and then your vacation really starts.  After a tiring but enjoyable day in the parks, come home, go for a dip in your own pool, get a beer from fridge (or make a coffee), then curl up on the sofa to watch a favourite dvd.  You can really escape from it all.

If you haven’t yet tried this choice to a hotel, then please give it a try.  We can assure that you will not be disappointed. Most villasYou will have the vacation of a  will give you the vacation of your lifetime without having to share it with hundreds of other holidaymakers sharing the hotel.  You have vacation home all to yourself.
